Construction Update

The City of Nanaimo is pleased to announce that construction of the Vancouver Island Conference Centre continues at a rapid pace with the following recent accomplishments:

Construction of the VICC continues with several major tasks being checked off the "to do" list. Some of the finishing touches such as beautiful lighting inside, landscaping on Commercial Street and the addition of benches and planters add character and life.

The bright white parkade is complete and will provide over 300 parking spaces ready and waiting. The Shaw Auditorium building is 95% complete. The last of the carpet and tiles are being laid and Audio Visual equipment is being installed.

The Conference Centre building is being fitted with kitchen equipment and a mechanical and electrical plant. In the grand ballroom and pre-function rooms the walls and ceilings are being boarded and prepped for paint.
