Banquet Captain

Overview
With a “Can Do” attitude and a “Passion for Excellence”, you will be responsible to supervise and direct events in the newly constructed facilities. We are looking for a dynamic individual who will work in daily contact with Executive Chef, Director of Food services and the Conference Sales Team with the goal of offering the best possible customer service experience for our clients. You are a motivated self-starter with a goal of constantly raising the bar of customer service excellence.

Expectation
Our Banquet Captains are responsible for directing the activities of the team, managing multiple events and coordinating all resources available for our client’s functions. Captains are also involved with planning and organizing staff and resources, training new employees, in addition to implementing and maintaining high standards of service.

Sous Chef

Overview
We are currently seeking a Sous Chef for the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. With a “Can Do” attitude and a “Passion for Excellence”, you will responsible for the day to day food production. You will prepare a variety of meals for employees and catering services for meetings and special functions. Along with this, you will be responsible for food ordering and providing basic cooking instruction to kitchen staff. The position will ensure the unit has strict compliance of the Compass Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations. You will ensure Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards are followed in the food preparation process.

Expectation
The Sous Chef will report to the Executive Chef and requires a flexible work schedule. The position will ensure the VICC has strict compliance of the Compass Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations. You will ensure Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards are followed in the food preparation process.

Receptionist/Coordinator

Department: Operations
Reports to: Director of Operations
Issue Date: April 15, 2008
Status: Full-time

Overview
This position is responsible for the Vancouver Island Guest Arrival Experience in the Administration Area, managing the Business Center, and Assisting the Conference Services Department where required. Such duties will be greeting and directing visitors of the Conference Center, overseeing their needs in the business center, handling all internal and external calls to the main switch-board, managing and booking the 2 boardrooms in the Administration Area, the Central Logging system for all inter-departmental communication, and various administrative tasks for the Conference Services Department.

Expectation
Reporting to the Director of Operations you will be a self motivator with a strong background in multi-task oriented job functions. You have a high professional standard and display a manner of enthusiasm and confidence. As conference center receptionist/coordinator you will greet clients and visitors with a highly professional presence attending to their immediate needs, be current in Microsoft Office Applications and manage the day-to-day activities of the business center.
